3175 Waikawau Track Clearing
Weekend 21st - 23rd March 2025
We will be leaving Friday at 3pm, Waikato Uni, Gate 1. It’s a 1.40 hr drive to the Waikawau track start. From there we will walk to the campsite and set up for the night. Saturday we will head up to the track and begin track clearing and exploring.
Sunday we will drive to Mokau to refuel and drive onto Rapanui beach at around 10 am for the low tide at 11am. We will walk to explore the stunning coastline with caves and swimming opportunities. The cliffs here are of sandstone and siltstone that were folded and contorted about 10 million years ago into interesting patterns by an ancient underwater landslide.
