Navigation Course (Outdoor Training Waikato)

Theory Thurs 3^rd July (7-9pm in person;  venue to be confirmed)

Practical: Sat 5^th July (8am-approx. 3.30pm, Waiorongomai, Kaimais).

This course is designed to provide participants with some knowledge and skills to be able to navigate using a map and compass on marked tracks as well as in a simple off-track environment. It includes understanding maps, grid references, elevation, distance and timing calculations, location awareness using a map and/or a compass, a variety of navigation techniques including boxing, re-section (triangulation), aiming off, off-track "leap-frogging" and walking on a compass bearing.  The instructors are qualified and experienced with a good sense of humour.  It promises to be a great day out!
