WAIKATO SKI CLUB FIREWOOD WORKING PARTY AT WAIKATO LODGE
Weekend; 13th - 15th February
Ever wondered how the firewood gets to the lodge for the winter?
Keen to get some tramping fitness and bragging rights?
Want a sociable weekend away with free food and accommodation?
Then the Waikato Ski Club Firewood Working party weekend is for you – look how much fun Naomi was having last year at the working party.
We are having 10 cubic metres of firewood being delivered to the Top of the Bruce on February 13th, Friday, to keep you all nice and warm next winter.
On Saturday, we will all work away like busy ants, loading up our backpacks to carry the winter wood up to the Lodge from the Top of the Bruce. This is a great time to work on your fitness and to catch up with other fellow helpers. If you need a break from carrying firewood there are other jobs such as stacking wood, preparing food, clearing the hut.
Moving the wood tends to take all day on Saturday and then on Sunday people can choose to do a tramp, sleep in or head home early.
Accommodation will be provided free at the lodge, and food from Sat breakfast to Sunday lunch will be provided. The only cost is shared transport costs and any nibbles/drinks you want to bring. Transport is likely to be car sharing so depending on circumstances different departing times may be possible. Both Skiing and Tramping, children and adults all welcome
