Weekend: 9th - 10th February 2019
Our working parties are planned for 2019. Come and help carry firewood or help maintain the lodge, even the kids can help out. Free accommodation and food for those working on working parties. You only pay for your own transport, or car share. Whilst we work hard we also have great social time on the working party weekends.
Firewood working party – Help carry the firewood up for the season, good training for tramping, and can be competitive if you want. For those who don’t want to carry firewood you can stack or there will be other less physical jobs to do too.

This is a wonderful section of native bush on the road to Kawhia. It stretches across both sides of the road and we can visit both. This would be a great opportunity to learn the names of some common, and some less frequently seen plants, ferns and fungi. Perhaps even a few birds! If we are lucky someone may bring along a few reference books for instant knowledge. The park is managed by the Hamilton Junior naturalists group so the tracks are well-maintained and provide access to most of the area. This would be a very suitable trip for children
